Description
96+ points William Kelley (Wine Advocate): “Tasted from bottle, the 2016 Chambertin Clos de Bèze Grand Cru (Domaine Louis Jadot) is showing marvelously, unfurling in the glass with a deep bouquet of juicy cherries, cassis, blood orange, violets and rich spices, its framing of new oak already almost entirely integrated. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, multidimensional and utterly complete, with a bottomless core of cool, sappy fruit that entirely conceals its supple but abundant tannins. Immensely concentrated and strikingly structurally refined, this is a brilliant Clos de Bèze that’s more classically balanced than the more overtly ripe 2015. Drink: 2026-2070. (Jan 2019)”
96 points Bruce Sanderson (Wine Spectator): “[$500 list] A concentrated cherry note anchors floral, spice, mineral and tobacco flavors in this muscular red. A core of acidity provides structure and keeps this red focused and energetic. Fine balance and length. Best from 2024 through 2048. 162 cases made, 35 cases imported. (4/30/19)”
Bill Nanson (Burgundy Report): “Not a large-scaled nose but one of beguiling purity and openness. Supple, plenty of structure but it’s well-covered and balanced by the quantity and quality of the flavours – fine pure fruit and a beautiful mid-palate complexity. This is gorgeous though with some structure to note – the finishing flavours just radiating out from the core. Bravo! (Dec 2017)”
