Description

99 points Stuart Pigott (JamesSuckling.com): “Unlike anything else from the Pfalz. The enveloping, exotic (mango, Thai basil) nose sucks you into this diamond-bright and diamond-dense dry riesling that somehow remains cool and delicate, in spite of all the ripeness. Astonishing interplay of intense, herbal and mineral notes and tart, exotic-fruit flavors through the super long finish. (1/26/21)”

95 points Wine Spectator: “[$125 list] Starts on the slightly austere side, but opens up with air, expressing a mineral element that is joined by complex flavors of white peach and grapefruit allied to a supple texture. This has a vibrant structure that keeps it all intact, cruising to a long, floral- and stone-filled aftertaste. Needs more time, but should develop beautifully. Best from 2024 through 2036. 400 cases made, 28 cases imported. Highly Recommended. (2/28/21)”

94-95 points Stephen Reinhardt (Wine Advocate): “Tasted as a sample in April, the intensely yellow colored 2019 Riesling Kastanienbusch GG is pure, fine and elegant on the intense, flinty and herbal-scented nose. Full-bodied, intense and juicy on the palate, this is a pure, salty, linear and elegant dry Riesling with very fine phenols and good structure. Not as electrifying at this very early stage but with substance and structure. Drink: 2026-2045. (Aug 2020)”
