Description

93+ points Fine Wine Review: “The Embazées is dense, intense, concentrated, rich yet light, and elegant. There a little sucrosity of texture here that gives a glossiness that plays against the tension in the wine. 100% barrel-fermented, about 25% new oak.13.5% stated alcohol. (5/19/19)”

92 points/’Outstanding,’ Allen Meadows (Burghound): “A completely different aromatic profile presents itself with its array of resin, quinine and various white orchard fruit scents. I very much like the seductive texture of the attractively energetic middle weight flavors that don’t have quite the same level of minerality yet in its place resides excellent depth and persistence on the bone dry finale. This too is good stuff that should also repay up to a decade of keeping. Drink: 2025+. (Jun 2019)”

92 points Neal Martin (Vinous): “The 2017 Chassagne-Montrachet Embazées 1er Cru was bottled in August 2018. It has an appealing bouquet that needs a little coaxing from the glass, but eventually it offers hazelnut and hints of almond, and a touch of lemon peel emerges with time. The palate is well balanced, with a fine bead of acidity, a little fatness in the mouth and a saline finish that might deceive you into thinking more Puligny. Very fine. Drink: 2021-2033. (Jan 2019)”

91 points Jasper Morris, MW: “Pale fresh colour, this has excellent intensity, starts lean but then really opens out, blossoming softly with plenty of oak too. However the fruit continues very well at the finish. Tasted: November 2018.”
