Description

93 points James Suckling: “Extremely aromatic with crushed-berry and spice character. Medium body, pretty density and depth, fine tannins and an immaculate finish. Focused and lively. Drink now or hold. (4/13/17)”

93 points Tim Atkin, MW.

91-93 points/’Sweet spot/Outstanding,’ Allen Meadows (Burghound): “(50% whole clusters). Here too there is plenty of wood framing the pure and airy black cherry, plum and violet-scented nose. There is a lovely sense of underlying tension to the vibrant, delicious and focused middle weight flavors that exude a fine minerality before culminating in a balanced, persistent and beautifully complex if mildly austere finish. Like the Gevrey this is not super dense but it does offer a highly attractive combination of punch and finesse that also has the underlying structure to amply reward a decade plus of cellaring. Drink: 2024+. (Apr 2016)”

92+ points Stephen Tanzer (Vinous): “[$140 list] Healthy dark red. Cool aromas of black cherry and stony minerality. Juicy and penetrating, conveying lovely definition and energy to its currant, mineral and spicy oak flavors. Finishes savory and long, with more refined tannins than Bouchard’s bottlings from the Côte de Beaune. Yields on the Côte de Beaune were generally very low in 2014, noted winemaker Frédéric Weber, but the wines from the Côte de Nuits are more generous and more classic. Drink: 2021-2030. (Mar 2017)”
