Hugues Pavelot included fifteen to twenty percent whole clusters here in this vintage, as there was no hail damage. The bouquet is deep, fine and youthfully complex, wafting from the glass in a black fruity mélange of dark berries, black plums, woodsmoke, gamebird, a fine base of soil tones and a nice dollop of spice tones in the upper register. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and rock solid at the core, with ripe, suave tannins, fine focus and grip and a long, well-balanced and soil-driven finish.
