Description
Valdiguié is a red grape variety that was once extensively planted in the southwest France and particularly in Languedoc-Roussillon. It has a small following in California, where the variety was known as Napa Gamay (or Gamay) until 1980, when DNA testing revealed its true identity. Californian wineries were still allowed to sell Valdiguié as Napa Gamay until 1999, but this practice is now outlawed.
