Description
91 points James Suckling: “A silky Champagne with aromas of apricot pie, shortcrust, croissants, lemon curd and seashells. Very fine, soft bubbles. Gentle salinity underneath the pastry notes, with a soft finish. Chardonnay. Drink now. (6/30/22)”
91 points Tyson Stelzer (The Champagne Guide): “(20% chardonnay, mostly from the Côte des Blancs, Trépail, Villers-Marmery and Vitry; 40% pinot noir, mostly from the Montagne de Reims and Aube; 40% meunier, mostly from the Vallée de la Marne; a blend of 200 tanks from 50–70 villages; 9g/L dosage; roughly 2 million bottles). Hervé Deschamps’ ambition for Grand Brut is to bring more of an impression of chardonnay than its small inclusion suggests, to tease out floral aromas, citrus, fresh, juicy fruits and biscuit. ‘Pinot noir and meunier work together to build mineral saltiness in the chardonnay style of the house,’ he suggests. This is the best I’ve tasted Grand Brut, a clean, lively and fresh blend that presents red apple and lemon amidst well-structured, finely mineral salt texture. Mandarin citrus notes reflect the warm 2015 season. Bottle age has built subtle gingernut biscuit notes and a creamy structure. Kudos to Deschamps for dispelling the dusty dryness and phenolic grip of the past. (2020-2021)”
91 points Falstaff Guide: “Bright straw yellow with green reflections. White flowers, nashi pear, some citrus zest and herbal-spicy notes on the nose. Delicate perlage on the palate with a harmonious acidity with a salty touch, fine fruit sweetness with a hint of pineapple in the background. Rounded, juicy finish. Easy to drink. (11/19/21)”
