Description

93 points Josh Raynolds (Vinous): “Limpid yellow. A wild, complex bouquet displays dried pear, beeswax, lemon pith and chamomile qualities. A mineral note builds steadily in the background. Stains the palate with intense, mineral-driven citrus and orchard fruit flavors that intertwine power and finesse with a sure hand. The mineral note drives an impressively long, chewy finish that leaves suggestions of candied hazelnut and bitter pear skin behind. The food-matching possibilities here are endless. Drink: 2019-2024. (Mar 2019)”

92 points John Gilman (View From the Cellar): “The 2015 Albariño “Amodiño” Lías Trés Añadas from Eladio Piñeiro is outstanding on both the nose and palate and with three years of bottle age is really hitting its apogee. The deep and complex bouquet wafts from the glass in a mix of peach, orange peel, salty minerality, lovely lees tones, dried flowers and just a whisper of wild fennel in the upper register. On the palate the wine is crisp, full-bodied, complex and plenty deep at the core, with fine mineral drive, very good focus and grip and a long, vibrant finish. This really has fine mid-palate depth from its extended time on its fine lees and is a first rate Albariño. 2018-2025. (Nov/Dec 2018)”

91 points Wine & Spirits: “Eladio Piñeiro has a long history in Rías Baixas, having sold his wine company, Mar del Frades, in 1983, while holding on to his family’s vineyards. This wine comes from his old vines in Salnés. It aged in stainless-steel vats for two years on fine lees and that long aging creates a richly autolytic wine; you might anticipate its deep golden color but not the supple saturation of the fruit, spilling out of the glass in languid notes of baked nectarine and apple. Serve it with meaty fish, or braised veal. (Aug 2019)”
