Description

99+ points Luca Gardini: “From the wine varietal that ensured the success of this firm, here is a version from selected and late-harvested grapes. Fermented in acacia barrels, multifaceted nose recalling dried apricot, touches of star anise, bergamot and balsamic closing. Both juicy and compact in the mouth, with longlasting persistence. (Jan 2021)”

98 points Stuart Pigott (JamesSuckling.com): “One of the great Mosel Auslese of this great vintage, thanks to its combination of purity and refinement. Enormously deep and subtle, right from the beginning, but the breathtaking finish is what seals it. So deep and so delicate. Drink or hold. (4/15/21)”

95 points Mosel Fine Wines: “AP: 11 20. The 2019er Graacher Domprobst Riesling Auslese AP 11 was made from fully ripe grapes harvested with little botrytis in the Gerdsgrub sector of the vineyard. It is quite restrained and only reveals some reductive notes of smoke and aniseed herbs at first. After some airing, scents of pear, honeyed yellow peach, spices, fresh herbs, violet, and bergamot gradually join the party. The wine develops some gorgeous playful sweetness on the light-footed and delicately zesty palate, and leaves some gorgeously direct flavors of fruit basket and candied grapefruit in the finish. This joyful and fruit-driven Auslese will prove irresistible at maturity, at a decade or so. 2029-2054. (Jun 2020)”

94+ points John Gilman (View From the Cellar): “There are three distinct Auslesen from the Domprobst in this vintage, with AP #11 being the least botrytized in personality (though certainly still with a beautiful glazing). The bouquet here wafts from the glass in a gorgeous blend of pear, pineapple,. a hint of the yellow plum to come, a lovely vein of slate, honey, iris blossoms and white lilies. On the palate the wine is deep, pure, fullish and vibrant, with a superb core of fruit, bright acids, excellent focus and balance and impressive lift on the nascently complex, youthful and very promising finish. This is a gorgeous wine in the making, but like most examples from the Domprobst vineyard, it will demand a full decade’s worth of bottle age to start to really hit on all cylinders. 2029-2085. (Jul/Aug 2020)”
