Description

95 points Stuart Pigott (JamesSuckling.com): “Lovely fresh-pineapple and yellow-grapefruit notes with hints of smoke and flint. The palate is concentrated, cool and dry with a very long, mineral finish. From organically grown grapes. Fair’n Green certification. Drink or hold. (9/19/18)”

95 points Mosel Fine Wines: “AP: 26 18. This 2017er Schlossböckelheimer Felsenberg GG, referred internally at the Estate as Felsentürmchen (there is a tower depicted on the label), delivers a beautifully restrained and delicate nose of may tree, quince, orange blossom, a hint of fennel and coconut, all wrapped into smoke and aniseed herbs. The wine proves superbly zesty and focused on the palate, where it gradually gains in weight and presence. Yet the finish is also quite pure and zesty and tastes fully dry. The after-taste is all about gooseberry, yuzu and smoke. This racy Riesling will need a couple of years to develop its full complexity, but the underlying material is already breathtakingly good. 2027-2047. (Oct 2018)”

94 points John Gilman (View From the Cellar): “The 2017 Grosses Gewächs bottling from the Felsenberg is another absolutely superb wine in the making. The bouquet is deep, pure and youthfully complex, delivering a constellation of pink grapefruit, wild yeasts, a superb base of volcanic soil tones, dried flowers and a bit of fleur de sel in the upper register. On the palate the wine is crisp, deep and full, with a rock solid core, a great sense of elegance out of the blocks, ripe, seamless acids and a long, focused and perfectly balanced finish. This will take more time to blossom than either of the GGs above, but it will be well worth the wait! Superb juice. 2027-2075. (May/Jun 2018)”

93 points Fine Wine Review: “Elegant, pure, firm, good acidity, dark berries. (9/17/18)”
