Description

94+ points Fine Wine Review: “Black fruits, spice, and black licorice characterize the excellent, nervy Echézeaux . 2009-2024. (Issue #98; 2004)”

93+ points John Gilman (View From the Cellar): “TThe 2001 Echézeaux from Domaine Dujac is still quite closed down, but with a bit of swirling in the glass it does show plenty of youthful potential. The bouquet eventually yields up notes of dark berries, cassis, espresso, woodsmoke, fresh herb tones, venison, still a bit of youthful stemminess and a fine base of new oak. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and very pure on the attack, with a rock solid core, ripe tannins, tangy acids and a fine sense of reserve on the very long and nascently complex finish. Give this fine wine another five years in the cellar. 2020-2050. (Jan/Feb 2015)”

92 points Allen Meadows (Burghound): “Utterly seductive black cherry fruit nose with abundant Vosne spice notes and big, rich, full, mouth coating flavors with a fine sense of minerality and super finishing intensity. This doesnÕt have the density and sap of the Clos de la Roche but this is a very impressive wine in its own right and is every bit as powerful. Drink: 2009-2016. (Jan 2004)”

92 points James Suckling: “I love the richness and depth of fruit in this wine. Blueberry and cedar, hints of flowers. Full and balanced. Superb. (4/6/11)”

Clive Coates (My Favorite Burgundies): “Good colour. Now mature. Bigger and more vigorous than the 2000. Firm nose, a little sturdy. Fuller and richer than the 2000 but not as stylish. A little over-extracted it seemed at first, with the 2000 showing more charm. But this got better and better in the glass. Fine quality. Just about ready. Drink: Now to 2014. (2013)”
