Description
95-96 points Lisa Perrotti-Brown (Wine Advocate): “Coming from the estate vineyard in Fort Ross-Seaview AVA, this barrel sample of the 2019 Pinot Noir Ma Danseuse is due to be bottled in just a few days. Pale to medium ruby-purple in color, it hits the ground running with an impactful nose of Black Forest cake, raspberry coulis and wild blueberries, giving way to an earthy undercurrent of truffles, dusty soil and forest floor plus a touch of stewed rhubarb. Medium to full-bodied, it delivers lovely freshness and soft, rounded tannins supporting the generous earth-tinged berry flavors, finishing with great persistence. 1,150 cases were made. Drink: 2022-2035. (Feb 2021)”
94 points Wine Spectator: “Sleek, powerful and savory, with fresh acidity to the dried dark currant, black olive and berry flavors that show light toastiness. Forest floor accents midpalate linger on the finish with focused tannins and minerality. Drink now through 2026. 1,174 cases made. (9/30/21)”
Producer notes: “Ma Danseuse, situated between 1,000 and 1,500 feet above sea level on steep mountain slopes faces east and northeast. It benefits from both the cooling influence of the Pacific Ocean over the ridges to the west and the mild sunny mountain climate. Ma Danseuse is the most feminine of our trio of Pinot Noir vineyards. Dark ruby-colored, ‘Ma Danseuse’ exudes an extraordinary perfume of Asian spices, clove and dried herbs along with fresh raspberry and blackberry. Full-bodied with savory layers of flavor reminiscent of leather, earth, graphite and sandalwood, enlivened by notes of violets, rose petal, and strawberry coulis. A silky entry evolves into an explosive midpalate that is seamless throughout with great length, providing a long finish. Barrel aged 16 months in %0% new French oak. Alcohol 14.4%.”
