Description

94 points John Gilman (View From the Cellar): “The 2014 les Carrières is another very promising premier cru, but like the les Fuées, it was a little reticent at the time of my visit. The bouquet is pure and blossoms with some swirling to offer up notes of red and black cherries, a touch of nutskin, gamebird, a lovely base of soil, fresh herbs, new oak and a smoky topnote. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and ripely tannic, with fine depth at the core, ripe, well-integrated tannins and a long, soil-driven finish. Fine juice. 2024-2065. (Mar/Apr 2016)”

91-93 points and ‘Outstanding,’ Allen Meadows (Burghound): “(there are only two owners of Les Carrières and Felettig is the only producer; from a .40 ha parcel). A ripe and ultra-fresh nose features an elegant and notably floral array of rose petal, lilac, black cherry and raspberry scents. There is fine richness but also good detail to the relatively full-bodied and muscular flavors that are shaped by a markedly firmer tannic spine on the mineral-driven and youthfully austere finale. Lovely. Drink: 2024+. (Jan 2016)”

91-93 points Neal Martin (Wine Advocate): “The 2014 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru les Carrières, matured in 50% new oak (four barrels from eight) has a well-defined bouquet of blackcurrant, raspberry coulis and cold wet limestone. There is clearly fine mineralité here. The palate is medium-bodied with crisp, slightly chalky tannin, vibrant in the mouth with plenty of nascent energy on the shimmering vintage. This has great potential — one to check out. Drink: 2017-2032. (Dec 2015)”
