Description

96 points Mosel Fine Wines: “The 2013er Dalsheimer Hubacker GG is a great masterpiece of dry Riesling as it oozes complexity and purity. The nose is all about elegance, finesse and freshness as grapefruit, lime, rose petal, spices, bergamot and mint emerge from the glass. The wine is packed with very intense notes of candied citrusy fruits, zest and chalky minerals. There is huge density without any undue feeling of power. The finish is breathtakingly pure and long. This is still work in progress and the wine still gains tremendously from airing. It is still far away from its drinking window but there is no doubt that this outstanding Hubacker GG will become a reference of its type. 2028-2043+. (Aug 2018)”

95+ points John Gilman (View From the Cellar): “The 2013 Hubacker was the first in our vertical that was starting to show some signs of truly blossoming and had a bit of secondary complexity on display on both the nose and palate. The bouquet is lovely, offering up scents of blood orange, a touch of menthol, a bit of beeswax, lemon peel and a complex base of limestone minerality. On the palate the wine is crisp, full-bodied and very suave on the attack, with a fine core of fruit, bright acids, excellent cut and grip and a long, complex finish. This is getting very close to its plateau of peak maturity. There is a touch of the flamboyant to the personality of the 2013 Hubacker that I like very much indeed! 2020-2075. (Jan/Feb 2019)”

19.5/20 points Michael Schmidt (JancisRobinson.com): “Even at the risk of blunting the proverbial razor blade by employing the expression for a second time, there’s no better way of describing Klaus Peter Keller’s use of the pruning shears in the cool and wet autumn of 2013 to drastically reduce yields for the benefit of extract. In a mysterious way this has led to a composition of floral aromas and a ripe yellow fruit fragrance which can only be described as magical. Lean, taut and fresh the wine shows so much vibrancy on the palate that it is hard to see how in this vintage any other of the estate’s Grosse Gewächse could rival the Hubacker in terms of excitement and energy. But this one really needs to be given time to find its equilibrium. Drink: 2020-2040. (2/7/19)”
