Description

94 points Fine Wine Review: “The Charmes-Chambertin displays black raspberry aromas and flavors with a dense, chewy texture. 2008-2023. (Issue #98; 2004)”

92-93 points John Gilman (View From the Cellar): “The Charmes is more on form than the Gruenchers today and displays excellent potential. The nose offers up a lovely blend of black cherries, plums, a touch of Gevrey meat, dark chocolate, herbs and vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is full, complex and possesses a fine core of fruit. The tannins are ripe and buried in the fruit, and the vintage’s acids provide a fine tangy framework for the wine. This will be another fine Charmes and well worth a spot in the cellar. 2007-2035.”

91 points Allen Meadows (Burghound): “Bigger and richer but not finer, offering up very ripe, earthy and fresh red fruit aromas with classy, pure, beautifully defined middle weight flavors of impressive intensity and excellent length. First rate quality here in an understated, rather elegant style and while this will come around quickly for a grand cru, it should hold for many years. Drink: 2008-15. (Jan 2004)”

91 points Stephen Tanzer (International Wine Cellar): “Good deep red. Enticing aromas of candied red fruits and rose petal. Sweet, juicy and pure, with a bright mineral character. Finishes with firm tannins that avoid dryness, and lovely aromatic persistence. Denser and more powerful than most previous vintages of this bottling. (Mar/Apr 2004)”
