Description
92 points Antonio Galloni (Vinous): “The 2014 Pinot Noir UV Vineyard has a lovely immediacy, but it also comes across as ample and at times a bit heavy. Then again, this site is rich in clay, which tends to confer breadth. Dark red cherry, plum, leather, mint and spices meld into the powerful, resonant finish. This supple, engaging Pinot will drink well pretty much right out of the gate. UV is planted with a mix of Calera and Vosne-Romanée clones. Drink: 2017-2024. (Feb 2016)”
Producer notes: “The unique clay composition of the soils at the UV site is exhibited in this Pinot Noir’s perfumed aromatics and voluptuous texture. The 2014 UV Pinot Noir is the most accessible and transparent wine at the moment. Dark berries, plums and black licorice highlight the concentration of the 2014 vintage. With time in the glass, the wine develops intriguing secondary notes of soy, grilled herbs and iron. The clay-based soil of this site provides a warm earthen texture with plenty of richness. Suggested drinking window is 2017 through 2027.”
