Description

89-91 points Neal Martin (Wine Advocate): “The 2013 Côtes de Nuits Villages has a broody bouquet with dusky blackberry and boysenberry fruit interwoven with limestone minerals. The palate is very pure with supple tannins, bountiful energy and a dash of orange sorbet and quince on the focused, very harmonious finish. This will delight over several years. Drink: 2017-2026. (Jan 2015)”

88-91 points Antonio Galloni (Vinous): “The 2013 Côte de Nuits-Villages is exceptionally beautiful. Impeccable in its balance and class, the Côte de Nuits-Villages is the hidden gem in this range from one of Burgundy’s most cultish growers. This is a decidedly big vintage for the Côte de Nuits-Villages, yet all the elements are in the right place. Dark red cherry, licorice and new leather are some of the notes that punctuate the super-expressive finish. Drink: 2018-2025. (Apr 2015)”

88-91 points and ‘Outstanding/Top value,’ Allen Meadows (Burghound): “(from 4 different parcels in Queue de Hareng that now total about .37 ha). There is a touch of wood sitting atop the notably ripe aromas of plum, earth, spice and dark currant. This is rich to the point of being lush with seductive and concentrated medium-bodied flavors that deliver fine length on the balanced finish. This is also well worth considering as it will drink well young but age well too if desired. Drink: 2019+. (Jan 2015)”

90 points John Gilman (View From the Cellar): “The 2013 Côte de Nuits Villages from Domaine Denis Bachelet is truly exceptional this year, as the purity of the fruit and the superb transparency promise very good things in the years to come. The complex bouquet is a blend of cassis, sweet dark berries, grilled meat, coffee bean and black minerality. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and really quite sappy already at the core, with fine soil signature, ripe tannins and a very long, classy and tangy finish. These vines are also located in Brochon and I cannot really understand why the INAO cannot allow a Brochon villages bottling for wines of this quality level- certainly they are at least as good as the wines produced in Maranges, which gets its own appellation! This will be one of the great bargains of the vintage, as is so often the case. 2018-2035. (Nov/Dec 2014)”
