Description
94-96 points Neal Martin (Vinous): “The 2019 Nuits Saint-Georges Les Saint-Georges 1er Cru has a sublime bouquet, a mixture of red and black fruit, sous-bois and light rose petal aromas, very harmonious and sophisticated; a light sea cave aroma emerges after a couple of minutes. The palate is well balanced with fine-grained tannins, taut and fresh, with a light marine influence and perhaps more salinity than the other Premier Crus on the finish. This has enormous potential. Drink: 2024-2048. (Dec 2020)”
93-96 points/’Don’t miss!/Outstanding,’ Allen Meadows (Burghound): “(from a .60 ha parcel of 75+ year old vines). This is restrained to the point of being almost mute though determined swirling eventually coaxes notes of red and black currant, newly turned earth, humus and a subtle spiciness to emerge. The powerful but sleek middle weight plus flavors possess both an abundance of minerality as well as sappy dry extract that imparts an agreeable texture to the hugely long and exceptionally firm finale. This is very much built for the long-term and even two decades of cellaring might not be quite enough. A definite ‘wow’ wine! Drink: 2039+. (Jan 2021)”
93-95 points Jasper Morris, MW: “Ripe mid purple, not exaggerated. The bouquet offers succulent deep raspberries in some style. Spicy and peppery too, with some energy at the back, all very much integrated and with a superb length of flavour, on the cusp of red and black. Certainly the longest finish to date. (Nov 2020)”
