Description

94 points David Schildknecht (Vinous): “This first-time Weber bottling comes from adjacent parcels in a sector known as Langenberg, a site whose wines were in the outgoing 19th century already being sold in bottle under that name. On the nose there is an intimation of saliva-inducement, textural richness and mineral complexity by way of oyster liquor. Scents of lime and kiwi anticipate brightness, piquancy and seedy invigoration that offer a perfect foil on the glossy palate for the aforementioned minerally and savory elements. Some two dozen grams of residual sugar are beautifully integrated, supporting the succulence of kiwi and honeydew while engendering only the slightest sense of outright sweetness. The lingering finish is delightfully buoyant and transparent to mineral nuances, with nippy hints of cress serving to stimulate the tongue, while the animal, herbal, saline and nutty aspects of oyster innards milk the salivary glands. What an impeccably balanced beauty! Drink: 2019-2040. (Oct 2019)”

93 points Mosel Fine Wines: “AP: 23 18. The Estate made four different bottlings of Niedermennig Herrenberg Spätlese Feinherb in 2017. The one carrying the AP 23 (known internally “Pio Herbert”) comes from 50 year-old vines in the Langenberg sector and was fermented down to 25 g/l of residual sugar. It delivers a stunning nose of white peach, pear, apple, grapefruit, bergamot and fine herbs. The wine proves completely vibrating on the palate as acidity completely lifts up the superb structure on the palate. The finish is delicately smooth and multi-layered. 2022-2037. (Jun 2018)”
