Description
94 points/’Top 100 Wine of 2006 (#88)’, Wine Spectator: “An opulent, exotic red. Packed with Asian spices, sweet blackberry and raspberry ganache notes, a swath of dense tannins and new oak for support. Vibrant, and sings now, but needs time to fulfill its potential. Great length. Best from 2009 through 2025. 400 cases imported. (11/15/06)”
94 points Richard Jennings: “Bricking medium red color; aromatic, dried cherry, cherry past, tart raspberry, floral nose; delicious, tart raspberry, tart cherry, mineral, talc, light lilac palate; long finish. (3/14/14)”
93 points Stephen Tanzer (International Wine Cellar): “Good full, deep red. Musky, brooding aromas of black raspberry, plum, smoky oak and game; not especially extreme in the context of the vintage. Then thick, dense, chewy and sweet; as superripe, layered and generous as this is, it also retains very good verve and a bit of restraint. Finishes with huge tannins and a whiplash of mocha and roasted herb flavors. This very large-scaled wine really calls for a decade of bottle aging. These 2003s have turned out very well. (Mar/Apr 2006)”
Clive Coates (The World of Fine Wine): “Very good color. Still youthful. Fine nose. Unexpectedly classy. Fresh, fat, rich, and generous. Not a bit too stewed or pruney. Really quite stylish. Some tannin still to resolve, but these are ripe. Oaky, voluptuous, and surprisingly fresh. Excellent for the vintage. From 2013. (Issue #36; 2012)”
