Description
91 points John Gilman (View From the Cellar): “The 1983 Hermannsberg Eiswein from the Staatesdomaine is a lovely bottle that is now fully mature and quite dark in color, resembling molasses. The nose is complex and rather deep-pitched, as it delivers scents of new leather, caramel, peanut brittle, baked apricots and slate soil tones. On the palate the wine is full-bodied, sweet and quite heavily glazed with botrytis, with a caramelized core of fruit, lovely focus and impressive acidity on the long, mature and zesty finish. I am not sure how long this wine will last, but certainly there is no problem keeping it for the next decade or more, and it may well surprise and still be cruising along beautifully twenty-five or thirty years from now. (Jan/Feb 2008)”
