Description

94 points/’Outstanding,’ Allen Meadows (Burghound): “(from younger vines Musigny of less than 25 years of age, the youngest of which were planted in 2007). This is aromatically restrained while similar to the Chambolle villages in terms of the fruit but with more apparent spice and floral influences. The sleek, intense and big-bodied weight flavors exhibit evident minerality on the focused and gorgeously textured finish where a touch of bitter cherry pit character slowly emerges. This markedly firmer effort and beautifully balanced wine is a really lovely wine that possesses a similar degree of finesse but with plenty of punch to go with it. In a word, terrific. Drink: 2031+. (Jan 2022)”

92-94 points Jasper Morris, MW: “Made from the young vines of Musigny, of which the most recent date back to 2007, the oldest from the 1990s. Classic intense purple. The nose is really stylish, bearing the majesty of Musigny. There is a considerable weight of fruit here, though obviously not equal to the grand vin and not so nuanced. Grenadine and deep raspberry, before going to the black side. Very fine, and persistent. (Nov 2020)”

93 points Charles Curtis, MW (Decanter): “Produced exclusively with young Musigny vines, with a long, cold maceration, gentle extraction and little new wood. It is, at this point, slightly closed, but on the palate the exuberance of the ripe red fruit and the mineral nuance of the wine becomes apparent. This is a wine of depth and concentration, with a youthful vigour that will make this ready at a young age, but structured enough for long ageing. Drinking Window: 2024-2049. (Oct 2020)”

Bill Nanson (Burgundy Report): “I rarely have such a fabulous impression from this nose, but in 2019 it’s dynamic, it’s perfumed, there is depth and purity of fruit – but never heavy – bravo! Fine, red fruits, slightly darker red fruits too. Layered, complex, beautiful shape no unnecessary density, almost a blood orange finishing freshness. A tour de force for this ‘baby’ wine in 19. (Dec 2020)”
