Description
98-99 points Steen Öhman (Winehog): “The Domaine Comte Georges de Vogüé Musigny 2019 is a potentially legendary wine with a complexity and intensity that can only be found in the Musigny terroir and a few prominent vineyards in Vosne-Romanée. This is clearly quite a level up from the other wines, as the palate and bouquet offer even greater depth and complexity. The pomegranate, peony, and deeply colored red roses on the nose are infused with the sensual scent of Scandinavian cloudberries, adding some generous sweet spice to the wine without sacrificing freshness, verve, and liveliness. This clearly has the potential to be a great vin d’émotion – the wine to end all wars. Potentially Legendary! Drink from 2050. (2/9/21)”
98 points Charles Curtis, MW (Decanter): “From mature vines and a majestic site, the completely destemmed fruit – fermented without punching down – gives a complete wine that is seductive even now and should continues to astonish with age. Layered and complex, the initial impression is of opulent black cherry fruit, liquorice and rose petals. On the palate, the wine is surprisingly fresh and firm, yet also shows an immediately appealing, voluptuous texture. This tightly packed wine will likely benefit from as much age as you can stand to give it. Drinking Window: 2029-2049. (Oct 2020)”
97 points/’Don’t miss!’ Allen Meadows (Burghound): “(from an incredible 6.46 ha parcel, which doesn’t include the .67 ha section planted to chardonnay). This too is quite aromatically restrained though aggressive swirling does eventually coax the pure and elegant aromas to emerge and when they do, they are almost a hypothetical blend of the Amoureuses and the Bonnes Mares. The concentrated, powerful and decidedly muscular flavors retain plenty of refinement and minerality that conclude in a wonderfully complex and superbly long finale. The mid-palate texture is akin to rolling rocks around in the mouth and the finish just goes on and on. This too is brilliant, and the word Zen definitely comes to mind. Drink: 2039+. (Jan 2022)”
Bill Nanson (Burgundy Report): “I thought the young vines was good, but the old vines know how to operate too; extra aromatic complexity in all directions – almost a graphite minerality too – I’m thinking ‘the purest tarte au myrtilles’ in the base of the aromas. After the Bonnes-Mares here’s a different level of energy and freshness – intensity too. Vibrantly growing in volume in the finish, before a long, slow, diminuendo of flavour. Grand Vin – as it should be! (Dec 2020)”
